How to Set Up the LINKSOLAR 30W Solar Backpack

You can use the fixed 15W panel without unfolding the backpack. Follow these steps when you want to deploy both panels for the full rated 30W setup.

You do not have to unfold the LINKSOLAR 30W solar backpack before it can collect energy. The fixed front panel can work by itself in rated 15W mode. Deploy the hidden second panel when you have stopped and want to use the full two-panel, rated 30W setup.

Step 1: Choose the setup that fits the moment

If you are walking or do not have room to spread the backpack out, leave the hidden panel stored. Keep the fixed front panel exposed to available sunlight. This is the single-panel configuration, rated at 15W.

If you are stopping for a while and have a safe place to set the bag down, use both panels. Fully extending the second 15W panel creates the combined rated 30W configuration. The second panel increases collection area; it does not activate an otherwise inactive system.

Step 2: Find a stable, dry position

Set the backpack on a stable surface away from standing water, sharp rocks, foot traffic, and anything that could press into a panel. Look at how shadows may move during the next part of your stop. A sunny spot now may sit under a tree shadow later.

Keep phones and power banks out of direct sun. Choose a shaded, ventilated place for the receiving device where the cable will not be pulled or pinched.

Step 3: Open the bottom zipper and extend the panel

Open the zipper for the bottom storage section. Do not pull on the panel cable or force the panel edge. Hold the panel carefully and draw it out in its intended direction until it lies fully extended.

The flexible construction lets the panel follow the backpack's designed fold. It does not mean the panel should be sharply creased, rolled, or placed under a heavy object.

With both panels extended, the overall product length is approximately 78.5 cm. The closed backpack measures 44 × 32 × 19 cm.

Step 4: Point both panels toward open sunlight

Adjust the backpack so both panels receive unobstructed sunlight. A panel that faces the sun more directly will generally have a better opportunity to collect available energy. Reposition the bag as the sun moves.

Check for small shadows, too. A bottle, strap, jacket, table edge, or your own body can cover part of a panel and affect output.

Step 5: Connect through the internal USB control box

The control box sits inside the backpack and provides USB-A and USB-C outputs. Use the cable pass-through to route a cable as needed. This model does not have a separate plug-in USB port on the exterior.

Connect your own compatible cable to a small USB device or power bank. USB-A supports up to 22.5W, USB-C supports 5V/3A up to 15W, and simultaneous use is limited to 24W combined. Available solar power may be lower than those limits.

Look at the phone or power bank itself to confirm that charging has started. Sun on the panel does not prove that the device and control box have established a compatible, continuous connection.

Step 6: Watch the device and conditions

Stop charging if a device becomes unusually hot, a cable is damaged, a port is wet, or the connection repeatedly drops. Follow the device maker's temperature and charging guidance.

While you are walking, the fixed 15W panel can still collect available energy. Expect output to change as the backpack turns, tilts, or moves through shade. Do not plan around a steady 15W while walking, and do not count the closed backpack as a 30W setup.

Step 7: Disconnect, dry, and pack the panel away

Disconnect devices first. Make sure the panel, control box, ports, and cable area are dry. Return the panel along its designed fold and close the bottom zipper without trapping a cable.

Do not machine-wash or immerse the backpack. Wipe the surface with a dry cloth and let it air-dry at room temperature. Protect the backpack, ports, and connected electronics from heavy rain and severe weather. This guide does not make a waterproof or IP-rating claim.

Setup questions

Can I use the backpack without pulling out the hidden panel?

Yes. The fixed front panel can work as a rated 15W panel when useful sunlight is available.

When should I unfold the second panel?

Unfold it when you can stop, place the backpack securely, and point both panels toward open sunlight. That creates the combined rated 30W setup.

Will the backpack work on a cloudy day?

Bright overcast conditions may still produce some output, but it will generally be lower and less predictable than direct sunlight. LINKSOLAR does not publish a fixed cloudy-day percentage for this product.

Where should I put my phone or power bank?

Keep it in a shaded, ventilated location where it will stay dry and the cable will not be strained. Do not leave it baking on top of a solar panel.
