QUICK ANSWERS
Know these four things first.
- 15W closed, 30W deployed: the fixed front panel is rated at 15W; fully extend the hidden second 15W panel for up to 30W rated solar power.
- USB-A + USB-C: USB-A supports up to 22.5W and USB-C up to 15W; confirmed combined output is up to 24W.
- No energy storage: the backpack generates power in useful sunlight but does not store it. Use your own compatible power bank when storage is needed.
- IPX4 tested: resistant to splashing water under the tested conditions, but not designed for immersion, washing or prolonged heavy rain.

Fully deploy both 15W solar panels
The fixed front panel is rated at 15W. Open the bottom zipper and carefully pull out the hidden second 15W panel to create the full 30W rated solar array.
Place the backpack steadily with both panels completely open and facing unobstructed sunlight. Do not sharply fold, twist or load the solar cells.
Thirty watts is the combined panel rating under standard test conditions, not a promise of constant 30W output outdoors.

Open the lower compartment and fully extend the second 15W panel. Find the USB-A and USB-C junction box
Locate the internal solar junction box. Connect a compatible cable from its USB-A or USB-C output to the charging input of your phone or power bank.
USB-A supports QC 3.0 modes of 5V/4.5A, 5V/3A and 9V/2A, up to 22.5W. USB-C supports 5V/3A, up to 15W. Both ports may operate together with a confirmed combined output up to 24W.
Those values are interface limits. Available solar power still depends on the current light and connected equipment.

Use a junction-box output and the receiving device’s charging input. Choose the correct charging path
For direct phone charging, connect a compatible phone to the junction box while the panels are steadily positioned in strong sunlight.
For stored energy, connect your own compatible power bank to the junction box, let it collect solar energy, and then use the power bank’s output to charge your device.
Never connect a laptop directly to the backpack’s solar output. To charge a laptop, first store energy in a power bank that supports the laptop’s required output wattage and protocol, then connect the power bank to the laptop.

Direct phone charging needs steady sun; a compatible power bank provides energy storage.
REFERENCE TEST RESULTS
What the charging-time examples mean.
With both 15W panels fully deployed, reference tests under 1000W/m² irradiance, 25°C and AM1.5 recorded approximately 1 hour to charge an iPhone 16 from 0% to 100% through USB-A, and approximately 4 hours to charge a 20,000mAh power bank from 0% to 100%.
These are ideal-condition reference results, not guaranteed outdoor charging times. Real results vary with sunlight, panel angle, shade, temperature, cable condition, device compatibility and charging protocol.
Reference conditions supplied with the PT-B-30W manual and confirmed by LINKSOLAR. MacBook charging-time data is not used.
FIND YOUR SYMPTOM
Let's work through it.
Open the question that matches your issue. These checks do not require opening or repairing the electronics.
Why is my phone not charging from the solar backpack?
Check in this order
- Fully deploy both panels and move them into strong, unobstructed sunlight.
- Connect a junction-box output to the phone’s charging input with a known-good compatible cable.
- Check for shade on either panel and confirm that the phone is not already too hot to accept charging.
- Try a compatible power bank to separate a sunlight issue from a phone or cable issue.
What to look for: The phone or power bank should show its own charging indication. A connector alone does not confirm that power is being accepted.
If it is still unresolved: Tell us the phone model, cable, port used, sunlight conditions and whether both panels were deployed.
Manual: PDF pages 5–7 and 11; confirmed PT-B-30W output specifications.
Get help with this product ↓Why does charging stop and start while I walk?
Check in this order
- Notice whether movement turns the front panel away from the sun or carries it through shade.
- Check that the cable is secure without sharply bending the panel or pulling the port.
- Stop and place both panels steadily toward the sun to compare the charging indication.
- For mobile use, collect available energy in your own compatible power bank.
What to look for: A stationary, unshaded panel position should normally produce a steadier indication than a moving backpack.
If it is still unresolved: Describe the complete charging path and compare moving versus stationary behavior.
Manual: PDF pages 5, 7 and 11.
Get help with this product ↓Why is my power bank not accepting solar charge?
Check in this order
- Connect the junction-box output to the power bank’s charging input, not its output-only port.
- Check the power bank’s supported input voltage, cable and charging indicator.
- Fully deploy both panels in strong, unobstructed sunlight.
- Keep the power bank shaded and ventilated; an overheated battery may reduce or stop charging.
What to look for: Use the power bank’s own input or charging indicator to confirm that it is accepting power.
If it is still unresolved: Provide the power bank model, input specification, cable and port used.
Manual: PDF pages 6–7 and 11.
Get help with this product ↓Why is the USB-A output not working?
Check in this order
- Confirm useful sunlight reaches both deployed panels.
- Reconnect the USB-A cable at both ends and inspect it for damage.
- Try another compatible cable or small USB device.
- Remember that QC 3.0 modes depend on the connected device and cable; maximum interface ratings are not guaranteed solar output.
What to look for: A compatible device should display its own charging status when sufficient solar power is available.
If it is still unresolved: Stop use and contact support if the port is loose, damaged, wet or unusually hot.
Manual: PDF page 6; USB-A rating confirmed in the PT-B-30W specification.
Get help with this product ↓Why is the USB-C output not charging my device?
Check in this order
- Confirm the device accepts 5V USB-C input; connector shape alone does not guarantee compatibility.
- Use a compatible USB-C cable and verify the device’s input port.
- Fully deploy both panels in strong sunlight and remove shade.
- Do not use the USB-C connector as proof that the backpack supports direct laptop charging.
What to look for: The USB-C output supports up to 5V/3A, or 15W, when sufficient solar power and a compatible load are available.
If it is still unresolved: Provide the device model, required input specification and cable details.
Manual: PDF page 6; USB-C rating confirmed in the PT-B-30W specification.
Get help with this product ↓Can USB-A and USB-C work at the same time?
Check in this order
- Yes. The two ports can operate together with a confirmed combined output up to 24W.
- Fully deploy both panels and provide strong, unobstructed light.
- Check both devices, cables and charging protocols if one device does not accept power.
What to look for: Power is shared according to available sunlight and device demand; neither port is guaranteed to remain at its individual maximum.
If it is still unresolved: Test one device at a time and send both device models if simultaneous charging remains unresolved.
Combined-output value confirmed by LINKSOLAR engineering.
Get help with this product ↓Why is charging slower than the 1-hour or 4-hour reference?
Check in this order
- Confirm that both 15W panels are fully deployed and unshaded.
- Point the panel surfaces toward the sun and keep the backpack stationary.
- Check the cable, device temperature and charging protocol.
- Compare your conditions with the reference test: 1000W/m², 25°C and AM1.5.
What to look for: The 1-hour iPhone 16 and 4-hour 20,000mAh power-bank results were recorded under ideal reference conditions and are not guaranteed outdoors.
If it is still unresolved: Share the device, starting and ending charge levels, elapsed time, weather, panel position, cable and port.
PT-B-30W reference test conditions and results confirmed by LINKSOLAR.
Get help with this product ↓Will the 30W solar backpack work on cloudy days?
Check in this order
- Bright overcast light may produce some power, but output is lower and less stable than direct sunlight.
- Fully deploy both panels and avoid additional shade.
- Use a compatible power bank rather than relying on uninterrupted direct phone charging.
What to look for: Your device may show reduced, intermittent or no charging depending on the available light.
If it is still unresolved: Retest in clear direct sunlight before treating the behavior as a product fault.
Manual: PDF pages 5 and 11.
Get help with this product ↓How should I use stored solar energy for a laptop?
Check in this order
- Do not connect the laptop directly to the backpack’s solar output.
- First charge a compatible power bank from the backpack.
- Disconnect or finish collecting energy unless the power bank explicitly supports simultaneous input and output.
- Use the power bank’s laptop-capable output, supported charging protocol and compatible cable.
What to look for: Laptop charging is provided by the separately purchased power bank, not directly by the solar backpack.
If it is still unresolved: Check the laptop’s required wattage and protocol against the power bank manufacturer’s specifications.
LINKSOLAR product-use clarification. MacBook charging-time data is intentionally excluded.
Get help with this product ↓What should I do if the backpack gets wet?
Check in this order
- Disconnect all phones, power banks and cables.
- Close unused port covers and wipe the exterior with a dry cloth.
- Let the backpack and ports dry completely at room temperature before reconnecting electronics.
- Do not immerse, machine-wash, heat-dry or continue using wet ports.
What to look for: IPX4 covers resistance to splashing water under the tested conditions; it does not cover immersion or prolonged heavy rain.
If it is still unresolved: Stop use and contact support if water entered a port or electronics behave abnormally after drying.

Care & storage.
The PT-B-30W passed an IPX4 splashing-water test under IEC 60529. This does not make it suitable for immersion, machine washing or prolonged exposure to heavy rain. Close port covers when the ports are not in use.
If the surface becomes wet, disconnect all devices, wipe the backpack with a dry cloth and let it dry completely at room temperature before reconnecting electronics. Do not wash it with water because electrical parts are inside.
Do not sharply fold, twist or place heavy objects on the solar panels. Keep both panel surfaces clean and free from shade. Store the second panel flat in its lower compartment without forcing the zipper.
Keep connected phones and power banks shaded and ventilated; do not leave electronics in direct sunlight.
Manual: PDF page 11. Water-resistance boundary: PT-B-30W IPX4 report LCSC11084005K, tested to IEC 60529.
