QUICK ANSWERS

Know these four things first.

  • Characters: digits 0–9 and letters A, B, C, D and S; each character is an individual solar light.
  • Light modes: 2700K warm white, 5000K cool white, mixed light and Off.
  • Automatic operation: the light is designed to switch off in daylight and on when the surroundings are dark.
  • Published reference: about 4–5 hours of suitable solar charging and up to 12 hours of lighting under sufficient sunlight; actual results vary.

  1. Choose the position before drilling

    1. Choose a wall, fence or post where each integrated solar panel can receive direct sunlight without a roof, tree or another character shading it.
    2. Check the position at different times of day and allow enough space for the complete address.
    3. Keep every character upright. Do not rotate a character sideways to change the panel direction.

Each character charges independently, so each solar panel needs usable sunlight.
  2. Plan the complete address layout

    1. Confirm every digit or supported letter you need, including repeated characters.
    2. Arrange the characters at their intended spacing before making holes. Characters are approximately 6.7 inches high, but their widths are not identical.
    3. Use the supplied positioning template for the exact fixing points rather than measuring from an online image.

Character width varies; plan the whole address before drilling.
  3. Mark, drill and mount each character

    1. Check for concealed pipes or electrical services and choose fixings suitable for the mounting surface.
    2. Use the supplied template to mark the holes, drill carefully and secure the two wall mounting pieces.
    3. Align the light with the mounting pieces, slide it down into place and check that it is secure.

The supplied instructions show screw mounting; they do not describe a no-drill adhesive installation.

Use the supplied template and surface-appropriate fixings for every character.
  4. Select the light color before final fitting

    1. Locate the sliding switch on the rear of the character.
    2. Select warm white (2700K), cool white (5000K), mixed warm and cool light, or Off.
    3. These positions select color, not brightness. In a light mode, the light uses its sensor to switch off in daylight and on after dark.

Choose one of three color modes; Off disables the light.
  5. Charge in sunlight and test after dark

    1. Leave every solar panel clean, uncovered and facing usable direct sunlight.
    2. The manual gives about 4–5 hours as a charging reference and up to 12 hours of lighting under sufficient sunlight. Shade, season, weather and battery condition change real results.
    3. To check the light sensor during the day, briefly cover the solar panel after the battery has charged, then uncover it again. Do not leave the panel covered while charging.

Daylight keeps the LED off; darkness allows automatic lighting when a mode is selected.

FIND YOUR SYMPTOM

Let's work through it.

Open the question that matches your issue. These checks do not require opening or repairing the electronics.

The light does not turn on at night

Check in this order

  1. Check that the rear switch is in one of the three light modes, not Off.
  2. Check that the individual panel received direct sunlight and is not dirty or shaded.
  3. Move away from strong porch or street lighting, or briefly cover the panel to check the light-sensitive response.
  4. Give the light another suitable sunny charging period and test again after dark.

What to look for: A charged light in a color mode should respond when the surroundings become dark enough.

If it is still unresolved: Tell us the affected character, switch position, sunlight conditions and whether briefly covering the panel changed anything. Do not open the electronics.

The light stays off when I test it during the day

Check in this order

  1. Confirm a light mode is selected.
  2. After suitable charging, briefly cover the integrated solar panel to simulate darkness.
  3. Uncover the panel again after the check so it can continue charging.

What to look for: Normal daylight can keep the LED off; the brief covered-panel check should trigger the dark response when charge is available.

If it is still unresolved: If it does not respond after suitable charging, report the switch position and affected character.

Luma user manual, pages 3–4; specification light-sensor test.

The light turns off earlier than expected

Check in this order

  1. Review the panel's actual sunlight through the whole day, including roof, tree and neighboring-character shade.
  2. Clean the panel gently and remove leaves, snow or other cover.
  3. Observe it after another suitable sunny charging period.
  4. Record the selected mode and approximate on and off times.

What to look for: Runtime should improve when the panel receives more usable sunlight, but the published maximum is not an all-weather guarantee.

If it is still unresolved: Send the character, installation photo, mode and observed times if the issue continues.

Luma user manual, page 4; runtime varies with sunlight, shade, season and battery condition.

Different characters have different brightness or runtime

Check in this order

  1. Confirm all affected characters use the intended switch setting.
  2. Compare panel cleanliness and shade for each character separately.
  3. Check whether one character is shaded by the wall edge, roof or another character.
  4. Observe them again after similar charging conditions.

What to look for: Each character has its own panel and battery, so one shaded character can behave differently from the rest.

If it is still unresolved: Tell us which characters differ and provide a full-address installation photo if possible.

One character shows a different light color

Check in this order

  1. Check the rear sliding switch on every character.
  2. Set all characters to the same warm white, cool white or mixed-light position.
  3. Test again after dark without forcing the switch.

What to look for: Matching switch positions should give the same selected color mode across the address.

If it is still unresolved: If one character still shows a different color, report that character and all switch positions.

A porch light or street light seems to affect operation

Check in this order

  1. Observe whether the nearby light shines directly onto the solar panel.
  2. Temporarily test the Luma light away from that illumination, without changing the mounting unsafely.
  3. Briefly cover the panel to compare the sensor response, then uncover it.

What to look for: Strong nearby lighting can make the sensor interpret the surroundings as daytime.

If it is still unresolved: Send a night photo showing the Luma character and nearby light source if you need placement help.

The light was exposed to rain or moisture

Check in this order

  1. Do not immerse the unit or direct high-pressure water at it.
  2. Wipe external moisture with a soft cloth and let the light dry completely.
  3. Check the housing for cracks, loose parts or visible water inside before further use.

What to look for: The supplied manual identifies the product as IP65, but that does not cover immersion, pressure washing or operation with visible damage.

If it is still unresolved: Stop using the affected character if moisture is visible inside or operation becomes abnormal.

Luma user manual, pages 2 and 4; IP65 statement is documentation-based, not a new field test.

A character is loose or the supplied fixings do not suit my wall

Check in this order

  1. Stop using the loose installation until it is secure.
  2. Check that both mounting pieces are fixed firmly and the character is fully seated.
  3. Use fixings appropriate for the actual wall material; do not rely on adhesive as a substitute for the illustrated mounting method.

What to look for: The character should sit securely on both mounting pieces without rocking or sliding free.

If it is still unresolved: If parts are missing or damaged, tell us the character and purchase details before drilling additional holes.

Luma user manual, page 3; surface-specific fixing selection remains the installer's responsibility.

I think the rechargeable battery needs replacement

Check in this order

  1. First rule out shade, dirt, an Off switch position and nearby night lighting.
  2. Give the light another suitable sunny charging period and compare it with neighboring characters.
  3. Do not fit a disposable alkaline cell or a different chemistry just because it is the same size.

What to look for: The documented battery is one AA button-top 1.2V 1500mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery per light.

If it is still unresolved: Contact support for the approved replacement method and compatibility before opening the housing, so polarity and weather sealing can be protected.

Luma user manual, pages 3–4; battery specification checked against model documentation.
