Solar Tent Light Setup & Troubleshooting
Charge, place and operate your compact solar camping light, then work through common charging, lighting and moisture questions.
Choose a different product
Stop using and charging the light if it becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, smells unusual or has visible electrical damage. Do not open the housing or immerse the light.
QUICK ANSWERS
Know these four things first.
- Four operating modes: press the power button to cycle through High, Medium, Low, SOS and Off.
- Two charging inputs: use the integrated solar panel or the USB-C input. The USB-C port cannot charge a phone or another device.
- Two real placement options: use the rotating handle as a stand on a stable surface or use the supplied hand strap on a suitable support. This version is not magnetic.
- No published IP rating: the supplied guidance describes basic splash resistance only. Keep the USB-C cover closed and never immerse the light.
GET TO KNOW YOUR GEAR
Start here.
These steps use the currently published product guidance and product images. Select an image to view it larger; check the supplied user manual for any details not shown here.
Charge the light before first use
- For the most predictable first charge, connect a suitable 5V USB power source to the USB-C input.
- The indicator is red while charging and green when fully charged. A full wall-power charge is approximately 2.3 hours under the confirmed reference conditions.
- Disconnect the cable when charging is complete and close the rubber port cover.
The charging cable and wall adapter are not listed as included.

USB-C is an input for charging the light only; it has no phone-charging output. Position the solar panel for charging
- Place the back solar panel toward strong, direct sunlight.
- Keep the panel uncovered and move it away from shade caused by a tent, window, tree or other gear.
- Leave the light stable while charging. The confirmed reference is about 5.5 hours, but actual solar charging time changes with sunlight intensity, angle, weather, season and shade.

Solar charging depends on the usable light reaching the panel; 5.5 hours is not an all-weather guarantee. Choose a lighting mode
- Press the power button once for High.
- Press again to move through Medium, Low and SOS.
- Press once more after SOS to switch the light Off.
Runtime changes with the selected mode, charging conditions and battery condition. Because the supplied documents conflict on high-mode runtime, this guide does not promise a specific number of hours.

The power button cycles through High, Medium, Low, SOS and Off. Hang or support the light safely
- To hang the light, loop the supplied hand strap around a suitable hook or slender support and check that it cannot slide free.
- For tabletop use, rotate the handle into a stable stand position and place the light on a flat surface.
- Aim the diffuser away from eyes at close range and keep the light clear of fabric, heat and open flame.
This model does not include magnetic mounting. Do not rely on it to attach to metal surfaces.

Use the rotating stand or hand strap; this version is not magnetic. Switch off, dry and pack away
- Switch the light off and disconnect any USB-C cable.
- Make sure the rubber port cover is closed and wipe away moisture or dirt.
- Let the light dry fully before placing it in a bag or long-term storage.
- Fold the rotating support flat without forcing it.

Store the light switched off, clean, dry and protected from excessive heat.
FIND YOUR SYMPTOM
Let's work through it.
Open the question that matches your issue. These checks do not require opening or repairing the electronics.
The light does not seem to charge from the sun
Check in this order
- Confirm the solar panel faces direct sunlight rather than bright shade or light through a window.
- Remove dirt, packaging film or anything covering the panel.
- Change the angle and check for shade from the tent, trees or nearby equipment.
- Try a USB-C charge to separate a sunlight problem from a battery or light problem.
What to look for: Charging should improve when the panel receives stronger, unobstructed direct sunlight. Solar charging time varies and may be much longer in weak conditions.
If it is still unresolved: Tell us the location, weather, charging duration and whether USB-C charging works.

Get help with this product ↓The indicator does not turn red during USB-C charging
Check in this order
- Check that the cable is connected to the light's USB-C input and to a working 5V power source.
- Try another known-good compatible cable and power source.
- Inspect the port for moisture, dirt, looseness or visible damage without inserting tools.
- Let a wet port dry fully before reconnecting power.
What to look for: The indicator should show red while charging and green when the battery is full.
If it is still unresolved: Stop use and contact support if the port is damaged, unusually hot, loose or still unresponsive with a known-good cable and source.

Get help with this product ↓The light will not turn on
Check in this order
- Charge the light by USB-C until the indicator turns green.
- Disconnect the charging cable and press the power button once.
- Continue pressing through the mode sequence in case the light was left at Off.
- Check the housing and port for visible damage or moisture.
What to look for: A charged, undamaged light should enter High mode on the first press and then cycle through the remaining modes.
If it is still unresolved: Contact support with the indicator behavior, charging method and a description of what happens when the button is pressed.

Get help with this product ↓The light runs for less time than expected
Check in this order
- Give the light a full USB-C charge until the indicator turns green.
- Use Medium or Low instead of High when maximum brightness is not needed.
- Repeat the check at a moderate temperature after the light has cooled.
- Record the selected mode and approximate operating time.
What to look for: Lower modes normally use less energy than High, but actual runtime depends on mode, charge level, battery condition and temperature.
If it is still unresolved: Send the selected mode, charging method, indicator behavior and measured runtime. This page does not use the conflicting published high-mode runtime figures as a guarantee.
Runtime conflict retained: Chinese specification lists 7 hours on High; English manual lists 5–6 hours.
Get help with this product ↓My phone does not charge from the light's USB-C port
Check in this order
- Disconnect the phone from the light.
- Use the USB-C port only as an input for charging the tent light.
- Use a separate power bank or power source designed to charge your phone.
What to look for: No phone charging is expected because this product has no USB power-output function.
If it is still unresolved: No repair is required for this behavior. Contact support if you need help identifying the charging input.
DS-8484 supplied English user manual, page 6: no discharge function.
Get help with this product ↓The light slips, falls or will not stay in position
Check in this order
- Move it to a flat, stable and dry surface.
- Rotate the handle fully into a supported stand position.
- For hanging, use the hand strap only on a suitable support and check that the loop cannot slide free.
- Do not try to attach the light magnetically; this version has no magnet.
What to look for: The light should remain stable when the stand or hand strap is properly supported.
If it is still unresolved: Stop using a cracked, loose or damaged stand and contact support with a photo of the affected part.

Get help with this product ↓The light or USB-C port became wet
Check in this order
- Switch the light off and disconnect every cable.
- Wipe external moisture away with a soft cloth.
- Leave the light in a dry, ventilated place until the port and housing are completely dry.
- Do not charge, immerse, heat or open the light to speed drying.
What to look for: The product guidance covers basic splashes only; there is no published IP rating or permission for immersion or prolonged rain.
If it is still unresolved: Stop use and contact support if water is visible inside, the light behaves abnormally or the port shows corrosion or damage.

Get help with this product ↓The light is unusually hot, swollen, leaking or damaged
Check in this order
- Stop using and charging it immediately.
- Disconnect power if it is safe to do so.
- Keep the product away from heat, flame and combustible material.
- Do not open, puncture, crush or attempt to repair the battery or electronics.
What to look for: These signs require no further operating test.

Care & storage.
Wipe the housing, diffuser and solar panel with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry them fully. Keep the solar panel free of dirt and debris so light can reach it.
Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners or high-pressure water. Do not immerse the light or leave it exposed to prolonged rain. After USB-C charging, remove the cable and close the protective rubber cover securely.
For storage, switch the light off, clean and dry it, and keep it in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct flame. Recharge it periodically during long storage rather than leaving the battery fully depleted.
