Is a 3–4 Person Inflatable Solar Tent Right for Car Camping?

Plan car camping with the LINKSOLAR 120W inflatable tent: sleeping space, setup steps, packed size, weight, included gear, and weather limitations.

The LINKSOLAR 120W inflatable solar tent suits weekend car camping and short carries from a vehicle. Its stated 230 × 230 cm footprint and 190 cm peak provide more space than the 52W model. The tent body and solar roof weigh about 9 kg (19.8 lb) together, so this is a car-camping shelter rather than an ultralight backpacking tent.

Check the sleeping layout before counting people

The recommended occupancy is three to four people. Whether that feels comfortable depends on sleeping pads, body size, and where you keep your bags.

Planning detail What it means at camp
Tent-body dimensions 230 × 230 × 190 cm / 90.6 × 90.6 × 74.8 in
Nominal footprint 5.29 square meters / about 56.9 square feet
Peak height 190 cm / 74.8 in; lower near the sloping walls
Recommended occupancy 3–4 people; check pad and luggage space
Tent body plus solar roof About 9 kg / 19.8 lb, excluding the shipping carton
Best transport fit Vehicle travel and short carries
Dimensions of the 120W inflatable tent
The awning area is outdoor shade space, not enclosed sleeping space. Dimensions shown are the stated tent-body dimensions, not a measured clear-floor layout.

Four pads that are each 60 cm (23.6 in) wide add up to 240 cm (94.5 in), so they cannot fit side by side across a stated 230 cm side. Measure your actual pads and allow for the tent walls and entrance. Three adults with some gear will generally have an easier layout than four adults with the same gear. Don't count on the occupancy label alone.

What takes less than three minutes?

The under-three-minute claim applies to tent-body inflation under suitable conditions. The built-in electric pump inflates the TPU air beams and stops at approximately 5.8–6 PSI. The maximum safe pressure is 7 PSI; it is not a target to keep inflating toward.

The supplied rechargeable battery powers the pump. It is not a power bank for camping electronics.

A complete setup still includes:

  1. Choose level, well-drained ground and clear sharp stones and branches.
  2. Unfold the tent, close the deflation valve, and fit the charged pump battery.
  3. Start the pump and let it stop automatically once the body is inflated.
  4. Install stakes, tension the guylines, and assemble the awning poles as needed.
  5. For the solar package, fit the removable roof by hand and connect the junction box.

The standard kit includes two complete awning poles made from six sections, plus ten stakes and ten guylines. Some scenes show more awnings open at once; additional poles for those arrangements are not included.

What does the 4,000 mm waterproof rating tell you?

The confirmed waterproof rating is 4,000 mm, and the tent uses taped seams. You still need to choose a well-drained pitch, close openings appropriately, and secure the shelter with stakes and guylines. The rating is not a guarantee of safety in flooding, thunderstorms, strong winds, or extreme weather.

Treat the electrical parts separately. The fabric rating does not mean the junction box, exposed connectors, cables, or your electronics can be submerged. Protect connections from rain and standing water.

Check both packed size and weight

The carry bag measures about 55 × 24 × 24 cm (21.7 × 9.4 × 9.4 in). The shipping carton is 60 × 25 × 28 cm (23.6 × 9.8 × 11.0 in). Use the bag size to plan vehicle space; the carton measurement is for shipping.

Packed dimensions. The solar package's shipping weight and the tent-body-plus-roof weight are separate figures.

The tent body plus roof weigh about 9 kg (19.8 lb). The roof is about 2 kg (4.4 lb), already included in that total. With its shipping carton, the solar package weighs approximately 9.5 kg (20.9 lb). Do not use these figures as the Tent Only package's shipping weight.

At the end of your trip, disconnect the equipment, remove the solar roof and awning poles, and open the deflation valve. Fold the tent into a rectangle and roll from the pump end toward the open valve to push out remaining air. Let the tent, roof, and cables dry fully before long-term storage.

Common questions

Do I need to bring a separate electric pump?

Not for normal use. The tent has a built-in pump and a dedicated rechargeable battery. Charge and check that battery before leaving home.

Are mattresses, furniture, and a power station included?

No. Those are campsite props. The solar roof and junction box are included only in the Tent + 120W Solar Roof package, not the Tent Only option.

Can it supply power after sunset?

Only through compatible external storage charged beforehand. The roof generates in suitable daylight; the tent itself does not store solar energy.

Is it a good choice for backpacking?

It is better suited to vehicle transport and short carries. The size and weight are not intended for an ultralight backpacking setup.
