How to Clean and Store a Solar Fan Hat
A careful surface-cleaning routine for the F2 solar panel, fan guards, fabric and USB-C port, with clear limits on washing and water exposure.
After a few days outside, a fan hat can pick up dust on the brim and marks on the fabric. You might wash an ordinary hat in the sink, but the LINKSOLAR F2 has a solar surface in the brim, fans underneath, a control module, and a USB-C port. Give those parts a gentler routine.
We do not have a verified whole-hat water-resistance rating or instructions confirming that its electronics can be removed for machine washing. For now, surface-clean only: do not soak or machine-wash the hat. Don't borrow washing directions from a different electronic hat.

1. Turn the fans off and look over the hat
Switch the fans off, disconnect any external cable, and wait for the blades to stop. Look for dust on the solar surface and loose hair, leaves, or other debris near the fan guards. If a guard, housing, or wire is damaged, stop using the hat. Never reach into a fan opening while it is running.
2. Wipe the solar surface gently
Use a soft, lightly damp cloth to lift visible dust from the solar panel. Avoid spraying water directly onto the hat or scrubbing the panel with a rough brush. Take away any remaining surface moisture with a clean, soft cloth, then let the hat dry completely in a ventilated spot before use.
Keeping the panel clear gives sunlight a better path to the solar surface. It does not mean the panel will continuously deliver its maximum 12W rated output.

3. Treat fabric, fans, and the port separately
For a small mark on the fabric, wipe the spot gently with a slightly damp soft cloth. Don't put the whole hat in water. Around the fan guards, remove only loose debris you can reach safely; don't take apart the fans or control module without confirmed service instructions.
Keep the USB-C port dry. Do not push a wet cloth into it. If the port becomes wet, stop using the hat and let it dry completely. If anything seems wrong afterward, contact support before reconnecting a device.

4. Let it dry before storage
Don't pack the hat while the fabric or electronic areas are still damp. Once it is fully dry, keep it in a dry place where heavy objects won't press down on the brim, solar surface, or fan guards. The confirmed package contents include a nonwoven storage bag. We have not verified that the bag is waterproof, so don't treat it as rain protection.

Questions people ask
Can I put the F2 in a washing machine?
No machine-washing instruction or whole-hat water rating has been publicly verified for this product. Stick to gentle surface cleaning.
What if it gets wet in the rain?
Avoid heavy rain, soaking, and submersion. If the hat or USB-C port gets wet, stop using it and let it dry completely. Contact support if you notice a problem. Don't connect a device while the port is still damp.
Why wipe dust off the solar panel?
Dust and shade can limit the sunlight reaching the panel. A clean panel still won't provide a constant 12W in every setting; actual solar output depends on conditions.
For a closer look at the port and fan placement, see the F2 Solar Fan Hat product page.
About this care guide: These are conservative surface-care steps based on the current F2 product materials. We do not claim a waterproof rating or that electronic components can be washed.
