How to choose a power bank for camping
Choose a power bank around your devices and trip, then decide whether solar adds useful energy.

Start with what needs charging
List your phone, tablet, camera and laptop separately. Check their charging inputs and the cables you will carry. A large capacity number does not establish whether the power bank can negotiate the voltage a laptop needs. For low-power accessories, check automatic shutdown and whether a low-current mode is documented.
Separate stored energy from output power
Capacity describes the reserve; watts describe a rate of supplying or accepting power. Compare Wh when available, rather than treating mAh at different voltage references as equivalent. Conversion losses and devices running while plugged in reduce the number of recharges you receive. Do not select a product from an unqualified phone-charge count.
Decide whether you have time for solar
A deployable panel is useful only when enough light reaches it. Consider how long you stop, whether trees shade the campsite, and whether you can monitor the product. Walking with a panel does not provide the same consistent orientation as a stationary setup. A precharged normal power bank can be a simpler option for short trips with outlets.
Check the packed kit, not just the panel
Include cables, charger, attachment hardware and any separate battery when comparing weight and size. Check dimensions against the space in your bag. The DS-24 supplier graphic labels the folded unit as 280 × 154 × 20mm, but this requires current-product confirmation and its weight is still unverified.
Check limits before choosing the DS-24
The DS-24 has a 24W rated panel, solar input into its battery up to 18W and single-port USB-C PD output up to 60W. These ratings answer different questions. Documents state 24000mAh at a 3.7V equivalent (88.8Wh), with rated USB output capacity of 15000mAh at 5V/3A. Three ports share 15W. Match the current sales label, weight and temperature instructions before sale. It is not an AC power station or a guarantee of daily solar energy.
